You would seriously think that after literally years of this cycle I would learn that :

  1. voicemails do not necessarily spell doom.

  2. I will feel better if I face them head-on instead of fretting.


No, seriously. I learn this, over and over and over again — how fucking hard is it to get something this damn basic to stick? I have been falling down on last year's New Year's Resolution #5: "Remember that it's not as bad as you think it is." I was doing pretty well for a while, but lately I've been backsliding and doomsaying and worst-case-scenarioing, and I've got to stop. When I move into the dorms, I'm going to post some messages prominently, including:

  • history is made by those who show up

  • done is good enough

  • it's not as bad as you think it is

  • being considerate above and beyond the call of duty and ordinary manners will repay you tenfold


That should about cover it, I think.
